Some users of the Apple Watch 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 smartwatches have encountered the problem of “ghost” touches, when the screen spontaneously activates without touching it, and the image begins to “jump”, which makes it difficult to enter the password and can lead to an accidental phone call. Apple sent a memo to authorized services saying it was “aware” and “investigating” the issue.
“Some customers may report that their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 is experiencing false touches on the display,” says the Apple note, which the resource has read MacRumors.
As a result, Apple has instructed authorized service technicians not to replace affected Apple Watch models while the investigation is ongoing, and has also recommended that customers experiencing this issue force restart their Apple Watch while holding the Digital Crown and side button for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
Apple also asked technicians to inform customers that the company will soon release a software update that will resolve the issue.
Smart watches Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 went on sale in September 2023. Apple did not disclose the scale of the problem and did not indicate a possible time frame for its solution. It is also unclear whether the problem is related to the smartwatch hardware.
