Nest Cam monitoring is much simpler and cheaper nowadays
The revamped Nest Aware plans went live in September 2023, the first price changes we’ve seen since Google started offering a more simplified premium offering back in 2021.
Nest Aware is now a a two-tier model and the good news is you don’t pay for every camera or Nest Doorbell in your home, as you used to (and as other brands sometimes do), you pay per account.
Here are the new Nest Aware prices for 2024
First up, there’s the basic Nest Aware, which offers 30 days of event video history and cover all of your Nest home security cameras for $8 per month in the US / £6 in the UK.
Then there’s Nest Aware Plus, which bumps you up to 60 days of event video history and 10 days of 24/7 video history, costing $15 / £12 per month.
You can also subscribe on a yearly basis to make savings. In the US a yearly Nest subscription is $80 or $150 for the Plus account, it’s £60 or £120 in the UK.
All of the features like Intelligent Alerts and Activity Zones are available on both tiers, and Google has also introduced event-based recordings to the new Nest Aware plans, which act as an alternative to 24/7 recording and only start recording when the camera detects motion or sound, also sending you an alert.
If you’ve got an existing Nest Aware subscription, you can upgrade to a new plan through the Google Store.
One thing to be aware of though – Nest Aware requires that you migrate from a Nest to a Google account, if you haven’t already done so.
A couple of years back, Google announced that is about to make it mandatory for Nest users to use two-factor authentication (2FA) when logging into their Nest accounts.
